Psychoeducation can be a big part of starting out in therapy. I can support you in understanding diagnoses, psychological processes, and the “why” behind what might be going on for you. Therapy is a team effort, and taking the first step is often the most important part!
Recently moved? Got a new job? Just had a breakup? These things can be difficult, and even more so in a city like NYC! I can support you in finding resources, creating plans and coping strategies to manage challenges that come your way.
As you may know, stress can play a major role when it comes to your mental and physical health. From energy changes, mood swings, anxious feelings, even physical ailments-all can stem from stress. Therapy can help you manage stress, minimize these symptoms, and more.
It might be a heavy topic for some, and it affects 21.0 million US Americans (nimh.nih.org, 2022). Depression can be caused by a single event, episodic, or chronic-and it is manageable. Many people who struggle with depression experience shame, loss of friendships, sense of self, and may struggle with doing tasks and maintaining a job in some cases. They may not even notice the signs until it feels too late. It’s not, and there are many ways to manage depression. Treatments might include medication and therapy.
Managing anxiety these days can be a full time job. I can support clients to treat, manage, and build additional ways to cope. Art therapy can be an inherently calming and grounding experience for clients who find themselves regularly struggling with symptoms. I often utilize mindfulness and grounding techniques in session to support clients in addition to psychoeducation around how the mind body connection is impacted by anxiety.
